Elle Charles Appointed CCEE Director of Teacher Relations
New director brings well-rounded, winning educational experience to the role.
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 31, 2012) — William Coffin, Chairman of California Council on Economic Education, the leading provider of economic and financial literacy training to California K–12 teachers and students, recently appointed Elle Charles to the Director of Teacher Relations position.
Charles is responsible for all outreach and interface with the thousands of K–12 California teachers who participate in CCEE’s teacher training programs throughout the year
Charles’ experience includes assisting staff on education and policy review and recommendations for Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on the Senate Education Committee, and teaching Math at Hollin Meadows Math and Science School in Fairfax County, VA. She graduated from George Washington University with a Master’s Degree in Education Policy, holds a teaching credential as a Math and Programs Specialist and was recognized as the “Outstanding First Year Teacher.”
“I’m very excited to join CCEE’s efforts in implementing meaningful economic lessons for our K–12 students,” said Charles. “By reaching more teachers, we will impact a greater number of students in hopes of not only increasing their ability to join the competitive workplace, but combat the increasing dropout rate.”
“We are delighted to have Elle on the CCEE team in this critical position,” said Coffin. “There is nothing more important than the strong relationships we enjoy with the dedicated teachers of California. This role is critical in delivering best practice programs to teachers in economics and financial literacy.
In the aftermath of the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression the need for improved financial literacy training for teachers and students is more important than ever. CCEE continues to be the go-to organization for a wide range of award-winning programs helping California’s K–12 teachers.
